Jesse J Jimenez emerged from sea foam and sequins on June 11 1988. Since then he has submerged himself in queer theory, social deconstruction, and critical thinking all in hopes of becoming the man Marlene Dietrich once was.
The areas in between, those left without definition and construction are the areas which I find to be the most enlightening and stimulating. Here identity becomes malleable and ambiguous; a source of anxiety and liberation. By not allowing for a concrete idea of "being", I hope to keep everything unidentified and uncategorized. Allowing space to confront the viewer's emotions spanning from pleasure, guilt, fear, objectification, and empowerment.
